  • THE JOHN MUIR WAY

    One of Scotland’s Great Trails, the John Muir Way offers walkers and cyclists a unique journey through Scotland’s landscapes, history and heritage.

    Traversing central Scotland coast to coast in 134 miles, it links Helensburgh
    in the west with Dunbar in the east (birthplace of ‘father of national parks’ John Muir).

    The Kirkhouse is at the end of Section 2 and is the ideal stop-over when completing the trail, or base for shorter excursions. Kirkhouse Inn offers comfortable ensuite rooms, great food and drink in a traditional Scottish country inn. A local trip to Glengoyne Distillery for a whisky tour can be arranged for residents.

    If you are fond of a wee dram then you’ll be pleased to know that Kirkhouse Inn is situated only a few minutes walk from the world famous Glengoyne distillery, located just along the road from us and nestled at the foot of Dumgoyne. The distillery burn, as it is known, tumbles down the Dumgoyne Hill providing water for this 1.1 million litre capacity whisky distillery. Famed for hosting some of the most informative and entertaining tours in the industry, the picture postcard distillery produces Highland single malt whisky matured in the Lowlands and offers a wide range of different tours including special packages if you are a resident at Kirkhouse Inn. We will most definitely raise a glass to that.
